Winery and Grape Capital of Oklahoma

Oklahoma’s Governor, Brad Henry has designated Stroud as Oklahoma’s Winery and Grape Capital. Stroud is home to several wineries and tasting rooms, as well as numerous vineyards, offering unique and interesting educational and tourism opportunities throughout the year. In addition, the Lincoln County Grape Growers Association website provides a wealth of information about Oklahoma’s Wine Country.

Stroud has 3 banks (BancFirst, Spirit Bank, and Stroud National Bank) with assests totaling over $4.3 billion. (FDIC, Sept. 2006)

Media
Stroud has 1 weekly newspaper, Stroud American, and cable television access (network programming for the Oklahoma City area) through Allegiance Communications and DirecTV.

Medical Facilities and Practitioners
Stroud Regional Medical Center, a 25-bed facility, provides a full range of primary care services as well as a 24-hour emergency room, inpatient/outpatient surgery, X-ray and laboratory. The Hospital has consulting staff doctors in Cardiology, Podiatry, EMT, and Gastroenterology who practice in Stroud on a semi-monthly basis.
There are 2 clinics in Stroud, Stroud Clinic and Stroud Regional Clinic, and 1 nursing home, Stroud Health Care Center, with 58 beds. Practicing in the Stroud area are 3 medical doctors, 2 dentists and 1 optometrist. Home health care and hospice services are available. There is one pharmacy in Stroud.

Central Technology Center
Central Oklahoma Technology and Career Center is located in Drumright, 20 miles northeast of Stroud. Central Tech is a leader in economic development and training. The Business and Industry Services division provides assistance to small business in the areas of business planning, accounting, web site development and e-commerce.

The majority of Oklahoma's& major universities and colleges are within a 75- minute drive, including Oklahoma State University, University of Oklahoma,Tulsa Community College,University of Tulsa,Oral Roberts University and others.

The Sac and Fox Nation
Sac & Fox Nation, headquartered 5 1/2 miles south of Stroud, is one of the community's major employers. The Nation first located in what is now Lincoln County on a 750,000 acre tract of land in 1869, after moving from the upper peninsula of the Great Lakes region. The Nation's Capitol Grounds includes:

  • Headquarters Building
  • 60-bed juvenile detention facility
  • Library and Tribal Archives building
  • Black Hawk Health Clinic
  • Tribal Courthouse (which serves as the center of operations for the Nation's judicial system)
  • U.S.D.A. commodities warehouse,
  • A bingo hall (Casino)
  • Outdoor powwow and rodeo arena
